First time SNOWBOARDING... PRICELESS!

For Christmas Jared got me a lift ticket to SUNRISE. I have never been skiing or snowboarding and he wanted me to go. We were going to stay in the LAMBSON LODGE but it is not quite done. My FIL told me the trailer that is up there has no running water, mice, and you can't drive up to it you have to walk and he said that he was just there with snow up to his waist. UMM... as tempted as I was, I thought the snow trip should be post-poned. Jared wasn't about to go back(especially because Marci had our kids overnight) so we ended up staying at a little motel in SHOWLOW.

We woke up and went to our continental breakfast which was a lady cooking BELGIUM WAFFLES?? best continental breakfast ever, and drove to SUNRISE. I was extreamly nervous when we got there are told Jared to take me on the BUNNY SLOPE first.

I fell from the lift and almost gave up right then. I don't like things that don't come easy to me... I just give up on them!! Jared said we should just go half way up the mountain and try that first. Again, fell from the lift and only took one person with me! We actually are related. We were talking on the lift and he knows my grandparents from Safford and if you even know where Safford is, we are probably related. Regardless, he was nice about me pushing him over. It took us a while to go down but I made it. We went up the lift again and this time I stood up, smiled because I was standing, and the lift wacked me in the back. At least a few people thought that was funny! I was feeling a little more confident or a little more daring and actually thought I made good time down the mt. I did have a great fall with lots of flipping and sliding and people on the lift cheered so at least I entertained some people. I was actually getting the hang of it and was going a couple hundred feet without falling!!

Next time up the dreaded lift I was watching the people doing snowboarding tricks off the jumps. I knew i could do it this time... J/K. Someone was being strapped to a board and carried down the mt. then air-vacced away. This made me a little more cautious because who was going to raise my children. At least I made a video message to them before I left already saying my good-byes and words of wisdom.! I was a little more careful and decided a few more times down the mt. and I would be done. I continued to get better and continued to fall. HARD! But I knew I had ICY/HOT waiting for me so it was okay. My last and final little hill I wanted to look good so I wasn't even slowing down. Out of nowwhere, two women jumped out in front of me!!!!! Luckily I didn't hit them but I flipped and slid down the rest of the way.

I am so glad I went and can't wait for next time when I will surprise everyone with a 180- tailgrab!

Thank you so much to MARCI and TROY for keeping our kids overnight. Anna has talked about how cool Troy is now so that is good! I am so LUCKY to have such an awesome BFF who I owe so much to. In the words of Emmy, MY LOVE YOU MARCI!

Good Job Tricia! It sounds like our skill levels are the same. Maybe we should all go together and see who can go the longest without crashing.

I am there. I had so much fun. We should just start our own sport called the flip/slide!! I would be awesome. I'm not kidding when are we going?

Forget the snowboarding and pick up skiing! It is way better in my opinion. It does sound like you had a great time and I am impressed that you braved the snow and everything.

Don't listen to Cindy. Skiing is so old skool. I don't know when to go. I'm having my 5 wisdom teeth pulled on Friday (yes, I said 5...I must be wise!) And I go to Switzerland the beginning of April, so it would have to be in March...or Next fall...ouch.

You all could come up to Boise and go with Jon - he'd love it! The resort is only about 40 minutes from our house...

By the way, Tricia, my grandparents lived in Safford for a long time. Maybe we're related. Other than the Lambson way, of course!

How fun. Mike wanted to take me the other weekend, but I chickened out on leaving the kids. I'm a sissy that way. Someday I will try it, and I'm sure I'll be on my butt the whole time! I think it's funny how you made a video before you went, that's totally something I'd do. Lots of confindence.:)

Ok, next winter when the Lambson Lodge is done, we will all go snowboarding together. We'll draw straws for who gets left behind with the kids.

I am so surprised you have never snowboarded before. Why didn't we ever go together? That's all Brent and I did when we were dating. Our first Christmas together we ended up buying each other snowboards. It's so much fun!
