1.17.09

It is always hard to believe when your children get older.  Our one and only California baby just turned 7 on Saturday. I think I am most amazed by Anna and how much she has changed in her short time here.  Anna came into this world with attitude and in the last few years has finally grown into it! The first few years of Anna were hard for me. It might have been that I was at that point on my own with 2 babies. We lived in a different state then family, not that I can compare to that of a single mother but having your husband leave before your kids woke up and come home after they were in bed for weeks on end certainly felt that way.  Looking back I wish I had just enjoyed her little moments rather then stressing. She is and has always been in my opinion grown up. She walked at 9mo., talked in full sentences early and gave me fashion advice in kindergarten.
We told Anna that she can only have 2 friends this year for her birthday. We refuse to do a big party every year.   Without even thinking about it she asks if she can invite Kristen (our next door neighbor) and Emmy. I looked a little confused and Anna said 'What? they are my 2 best friends"

As ornery as that little girl can be I cannot imagine my life without her. I have grown so much with the lessons she has taught me. Emmy waits with excitement when we hear the school bell ring and she knows that Anna will be home soon. Everyday Anna takes Emmy to the park and mostly (she's not completely angelic!) lets Emmy play what she wants!  I just pray that they continue to be best friends forever.  I started to feel guilty when Anna shared her b-day with an exhausted sick mom, James' kids rock marathon, daddy's night at a church function until we laid down that night and she said 'Thanks mom, this was the best birthday ever'
